Tiny Tuesday – [Jan 4th, 2022]

A New Year & New Emails!

[Tiny Tuesday – Jan 4th, 2022]

Happy January! We hope everyone had a safe and happy holidays with loved ones and plenty of gaming was had!

Today, we’re unveiling our new Tiny Tuesday update initiative! This weekly post will keep folks abreast of what’s going on at GKG, as well going out to our mailing list (which you can sign up for here: http://eepurl.com/dkb4pj)

This update format and our mailing list will be used on a weekly basis (emailed on Tiny Tuesday – hah!), with our plan as follows:

  • 1st Tuesday: Project updates (as you see below.)
  • 2nd Tuesday: Minor updates, previews of upcoming projects, giveaways and more!
  • 3rd Tuesday: Project updates (as you see below.)
  • 4th Tuesday: Off-topic, spotlight of other games and publishers we’re supporting and playing!
  • 5th Tuesday (if it happens): We give it a rest!

Additionally, we aim to publish an updated project update every Tuesday on our website, so if you’re only here for that, you don’t have to join the emails, and you can just check www.gallantknightgames.com for the latest Tiny Tuesday update.

The end of December was a busy one, with Gallant Knight Games rolling out the last round of 2021 product releases, as well as announcing our new preorder/funding initiative: GallantFunding!

We’re excited and nervous to be attempting something new to bring you the GKG and GKG partner games you love! We started our GallantFunding initiative with War of the Magi, an expansion for Diogo Nogueria’s OSR urban horror and fantasy game: Dark Streets & Darker Secrets!

As always, you can visit the Gallant Knight Games Patreon to get access to the weekly playtest and development rules, the monthly TinyZine and loads of free goodies!

Yukon Dark, the micro-setting featured in our Tiny Cthulhu actual play is out in PDF!

Night of the Living Bread, the Tiny Taverns adventure is out in PDF!

Our GallantVerse Origins actual play has been on holiday hiatus, but will return on January 13th, at 8:30 PM CST on our Twitch and YouTube channels (you can click on the icons below to find those channels)!

*Please note our “In Development” is subject to NDA, licenses and we can’t always talk about everything we’re working on

A note on how this is presented: the white headers with black text are designed to be overarching categories, and the black header with white text are designed to be sub categories inside the larger ones!

This represents the initial stage of development where we write the first draft

Tiny Dungeon Campaign Guide

A supplement for Tiny Dungeon 2e, this book features an expanded bestiary, tips and tools for creating campaigns and modifying Tiny Dungeon 2e to suit your tables needs.

Tiny Cavemen

A fun, tongue-in-cheek RPG about cavemen and bad art. Coming to Patreon in February, 2022 and poorly illustrated by Alan Bahr (in crayon even!)

Trails of the Beastkin (WIP title)

Trails of the Beastkin is a campaign world (akin to Fenmire) for Tiny Dungeon 2e. A setting where you can’t play humans, you are the eldritch children of evil gods who created you through dark magicks. But you have rebelled and freed yourself from evil! Since the world you spent eons waging war on has yet to accept your change of heart, you must flee, searching for a home to call your own.

This stage represents playtesting, feedback from alpha reviewers and patrons, and revisions to the text

Swordpoint Deluxe Core Rulebook

The new adventures and mechanics are being playtested!

Atomic Highway 2e/V6 2e

Atomic Highway 2e and the next iteration of the V6 system is currently in development and playtesting

This is the last step before the text is locked for layout

Mecha & Monsters: Evolved – all handed off to the editor!
Carrion Lands – the final edit and review is being prepped for Carrion Lands to land on GallantFunding later in 2022!
H.O.M.E. Handbook – our teen GallantVerse book!
Zurich Rendezvous (Tiny Spies Adventure) – edits and redlines are being incorporated and the book is being prepped for layout.

This step often happens concurrently with the previous three steps and is relatively independent and so projects here might show up twice on the update list

Zurich Rendezvous (Tiny Spies Adventure)
Atomic Highway 2e

This step is the final step before we prep for release/funding. We try to do this step before we go to funding, though it’s not always viable [especially with larger projects].

Blood & Blade, our Swordpoint-powered game of gothic swashbuckling horror is in layout to prep for GallantFunding.

Things That Go Squeak in the Night, is currently in layout!

These are projects that are either currently funding in GallantFunding or on other platforms. Please click on the project for links.

War of the Magi is currently on GallantFunding! You can find this expansion for Old Skull Publishing game Dark Streets & Darker Secrets at this link.

These projects are the printer! They might be marked proofing, which means we’re awaiting proofs to ensure the print run is up to standards.

YukonDark, Tiny Spies, Teeming Shore I, Teeming Shore II and Night of the Living Bread are all at the printer and should be arriving to GKG’s warehouse in the next 3-5 weeks!

All of these are smaller zine sized releases and will be in the GKG webstore at shop.gallantknightgames.com, with Patreon backers getting copies of several of them already!

These projects are currently being fulfilled.

Lighthearted (Partner Game): US orders are currently fulfilling, as well as international via DTRPG.
Temples & Tombs (Christopher Grey Games): US orders are all fulfilled, as well as international via DTRPG.
GallantVerse Campaign Guide: All orders fulfilled.

Announcing GallantFunding!

The new GallantFunding program from Gallant Knight Games is a webstore based “crowdfunding” solution that allows Gallant Knight Games to gauge the potential popularity of upcoming products in a manner similar to Kickstarter or Itchfunding, while maintaining full control of the process.

Think of it as a pre-order. You will be charged in advance for an item that will ship later. If certain numbers of preorders are handled, we can enhance, unlock, and improve the products! We’ve taken some inspiration from P500 from GMT, as well as what we’ve learned over 5 years of using Crowdfunding and preorder tools.

Why GallantFunding?

As Gallant Knight Games grows, we’re attempting to find better solutions to help our small business and the publishing partners we work with. A lack of transparency, as well as creative control on other crowdfunding platforms has caused friction and concern, and this is one of our attempts to find a solution.

This solution allows us a few options:

  1. First, we can make sure creatives we work with get paid more. The reduction in additional fees is healthy for everyone involved.
  2. We have more control and flexibility over how we present these preorders. We can do a quantity of orders-based campaign or total amount raised-based campaign. We control the full communication, which we do via our emailing list, so you’ll need to opt in for emails or come back to this page to read the updates below.)
  3. Our goals can be fluid. If we get a better manufacturing deal (i.e., need to print less), we can adjust or lower the goal without needing to start a new campaign.
  4. We can generate excitement around the product just like crowdfunding! The fun progress bar, the cool stretch goals, all of that can be rolled into this program!

How does GallantFunding work?

Honestly, it’s pretty much like buying something from our webstore. You select the format you want from the dropdown (PDF, Print or Print+PDF), click the “Add to Cart” button above, and just checkout like normal!

You can even check out and purchase other items from our webstore when you GallantFund!

You’ll be charged at the time you check out for the GallantFunded product, as well as estimated shipping, and that’s all you’ll pay. Down the road, you just get the product.

If we raise the selected amount, we’ll produce the item! If we don’t, we’ll either refund everyone (the least likely option) or find a solution that still gets you the product (the most likely outcome – as any amount raised towards our goals gets us closer).

This structure is currently a limitation of how our webstore processes orders, but we’re working on a solution to be more flexible down the line.

Delivery

All our shipping currently originates in the US. We’re working on finding better international solutions, but for now, everything ships from the US. Our books are generally printed in the US (with a few minor exceptions), and we ship them to you via whatever shipping option you select when you check out.

On products where the digital product is done prior to release, when you check out with GallantFunding, you’ll get the PDF within two business days. You’ll receive both a download in the GKG webstore, as well as a link to redeem a free DriveThruRPG copy (this process is currently manual, so we’re trying to find a good solution in the long term.)

On products where the PDF is not done prior to GallantFunding, we’ll send it as soon as it’s available to you.

Our Promise & Guarantee

For us, in many ways, this is uncharted waters. The world is changing and we’re trying to change with it. As a small, creative, and niche business, we’re doing our best to change in advance. GallantFunding is a new process, with new concerns, issues, and problems we haven’t anticipated yet, that will crop up to surprise us. However, we’re committed to dealing with them.

GKG has produced over 100 physical books and products, ran over 25 crowdfunding campaigns, and Alan (our founder) has managed dozens more as a freelancer.

You can rest assured, if there is one thing we know how to do, it’s get you the product.

We make mistakes, we’re not perfect. We are the first to own that. But we always strive for open, ethical, and honest communication, and we try to do better every day than we did the day before.

We’ll always do our best to do right by you.
